Your new companyAn exclusive opportunity with Hays to work within an established Insurance & Re-insurance brokerage which has seen year-on-year growth and development. This organisation is looking to expand their finance team and employ an account assistant to support the general finance function with room to progress after the temporary period. You will be working within the finance department, made up of 8 individuals, reporting to the financial controller.Your new roleThis is a hands-on role with responsibilities covering the processing and reconciliation of the monthly reporting close, end to end cash management and bank reconciliations, as well as supporting the general ledgers.

  • Monthly bank reconciliations and associated transaction entries for the general ledger.
  • General ledger journal entry and approval.
  • Fixed assets and prepayments processing and reconciliations.
  • To manage the AP process (invoice approval, tracking and accounting system data entry).
  • Perform monthly reconciliations as part of the finance control environment.
  • To review and test internal controls and SOX processes.
  • Manage the monthly file updates as part of the general ledger production close.
  • Manage the quarterly file updates as part of the regulatory reporting close.

What you'll need to succeedTo succeed, you will need at least 2 years experience working in a finance team. Experience and knowledge of working for a financial services business, ideally an insurance firm. Good working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures. As this role is a temporary to permanent position, you will need to be immediately available or 1 week's notice.
