Finance Assistant

Join a specialist Lloyd’s of London broker as a Finance Assistant, working in their City office. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a small, knowledgeable team managing a growing portfolio of UK and international business. Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage end-to-end financial transactions for the company’s Yacht Facility, including underwriting, claims management, premium collections from agents, and payments to insurance companies.
  • Organise timely BACS premium payments and issue payment bordereaux.
  • Reconcile multi-currency bank accounts.
  • Process accurate and timely claims payments.
  • Track and follow up on overdue premiums, ensuring compliance with payment terms.
  • Send cancellation notices for overdue premiums.
  • Prepare monthly performance reports for the Managing Director.
  • Reconcile monthly income: premiums received, payments made, and commissions paid.
  • Collaborate with the wider yacht team to resolve finance-related issues.
  • Maintain relationships with insurers, agents, and brokers, resolving queries promptly.
  • Provide general finance team support as needed.
  • Play a supporting role in the implementation of a new finance system, ensuring a smooth transition.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with underwriters, claims managers, and external partners.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience in interpreting financial data.
  • Knowledge of insurance financial processes, including premium collections and claims management (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience in financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and claims processes.
  • Experience with finance system implementation (preferred).
  • Self-motivated, efficient, and adaptable.
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with multi-currency BACS payments.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar finance systems (preferred).
  • Collaborative team player.
