Key Responsibilities:

  • Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation of materials and resources for practical science lessons, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Resource Management: Manage the storage, transit, and availability of resources, including stock management and supplier liaison.
  • ICT Support: Facilitate the use of ICT in science lessons by managing the deployment of laptops and data logging equipment.
  • Waste Disposal: Safely dispose of laboratory waste materials, including chemicals and biological waste.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Ensure the upkeep of laboratory facilities and liaise with the Site Manager for maintenance needs.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical advice and support to teachers and students during practical classes.
  • Curriculum Support: Advise on technical requirements and contribute to the development of practical work within the science department.
  • Safety Standards: Maintain high standards of safety and security in accordance with school policy.
  • Training and Mentoring: Train and supervise new technicians as part of the BSTTP, providing practical support, health and safety advice, and mentorship.

As a Science Technician, you will provide essential technical support to our science teaching staff, ensuring that all practical lessons run smoothly and safely. You will be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of safety and efficiency in the laboratory, while also contributing to the training and development of new technicians through our innovative Training Programme (BSTTP).

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Science Technician or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in using modern technology and ICT devices.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff and students.
