As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity in students' learning when their regular teacher is absent. You will be responsible for supervising students, ensuring they stay on task with pre-prepared work, and managing classroom behaviour effectively. This position is ideal for individuals who are looking to gain experience in the education sector or for those with a background in working with young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and encouragement to students, helping them to stay focused and achieve the objectives of the lesson.
  • Ensure the classroom is prepared and ready for the lesson, including setting up any required resources or materials.
  • Provide pastoral care and support for students, ensuring their welfare and safeguarding needs are met.
  • Liaise with teaching staff, heads of departments, and other members of the school team to ensure continuity of learning.
  • Support the delivery of in-class activities, assisting with small groups of students or providing individual support as needed.
  • Monitor and track student progress during lessons, providing feedback to teaching staff on student behaviour and engagement.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a strong interest in education and the development of young people.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Be confident in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a productive learning environment.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Be organised and able to manage your time effectively, ensuring all lessons run smoothly.
  • Have the ability to motivate students and support their learning, regardless of the subject.
  • A background in working with young people in an educational or youth support setting is desirable but not essential.
Benefits:
  • Competitive daily rate
  • Opportunity to work in a supportive and dynamic school environment
  • Valuable experience in a secondary school setting
  • Flexible work schedule with potential for longer-term opportunities
