Design Technology / Art Technician

Location: Hackney

Duration: 4 week placement, starting immediately

Hours: 8:15 AM - 3:45 PM

Daily Rate: £138

Are you an experienced Design Technology/Art Technician looking for a new and exciting opportunity in a Secondary school supporting young learners with additional needs? SANZA Teaching Agency is thrilled to offer a position for a skilled technician to join a vibrant SEN school community in Hackney for a 4 week placement - with the possibility of extension.

About the Role

Step into a role where your skills and creativity will shine! You'll provide vital technical support to both the Design and Technology and Art departments, helping create an engaging and safe learning environment for students. Collaborate closely with enthusiastic teachers and curious students, encouraging independent learning and supporting practical workshop sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support: Help teachers set up equipment, maintain machinery, and provide practical instruction.

Workshop Supervision: Assist with practical sessions by supervising, demonstrating, and offering hands-on help.

Equipment Maintenance: Keep all power machines (e.g., band saws, lathes, millers) in top condition and ensure all tools are sharp and safe to use.

CAD/CAM Setup: Manage and set up all CAD/CAM equipment, including Techsoft 2D Design program and laser cutting.

Ceramics Knowledge: Utilize your experience with ceramics and manage the kiln firing process.

Stock Management: Monitor materials and equipment, order supplies, and keep records of departmental spending.

Health & Safety: Ensure all health and safety records are up-to-date, including equipment checks, risk assessments, and COSHH regulations.

What We're Looking For:

Experience in design and art-related tasks.

Background in a design technology or art environment, particularly with woodwork.

Knowledge of ceramics and kiln firing processes.

Familiarity with CAD/CAM equipment and software, especially Techsoft 2D Design and laser cutting.

An enhanced DBS check, as you'll be working directly with students.
