English Lead - Home Tuition Team
Start Date: After the Easter break
Contract: Full-time, Maternity Cover
Salary: Up to MPS 6
We are currenlty seeking a dedicated and experienced English Lead to join a dynamic Home Tuition Team within a wider SEND Service. Our client school provides specialist teaching and support to students aged 0-25 years who are unable to attend school due to a range of needs, including medical, mental health, and complex SEND.
This maternity cover role is confirmed for the Summer term, with a strong possibility of extension beyond this period. It offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate English specialist to take on curriculum leadership, quality assurance, and impact measurement, alongside delivering high-quality English teaching in alternative education settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and individualised English lessons for students receiving home tuition or alternative provision.
- Assess student needs, track progress, and adapt teaching strategies to meet their diverse learning requirements.
- Take a subject leadership role in English, overseeing curriculum development, assessment practices, and ensuring high-quality provision.
- Provide advice, training, and support to tutors delivering English within the Home Tuition Team.
- Work closely with school staff to support student reintegration, delivering training where needed.
- Attend review meetings and contribute to statutory and non-statutory reports.
- Liaise with families, schools, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Occasional evening work may be required.
- Potential opportunities to work on contracts outside the borough.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent with a strong background in English teaching
- Experience working with students with a range of SEND, including medical, mental health, and complex needs
- Proven ability to lead curriculum planning and quality assurance
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
