This is a high-performing secondary school in Brent, rated 'Good' by Ofsted, seeking an experienced and motivated Second in Charge English Teacher to join this expanding team.



The Role:

As the Second in Charge English Teacher, you will play a key leadership role, supporting the Head of Department in shaping the vision and direction of English across this Brent school. You will:

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of the English curriculum across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Lead on specific initiatives to improve teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Support the department's strategic goals and ensure high-quality outcomes for all students.
  • Mentor and coach members of the English team, helping to develop their teaching practice.
  • Take responsibility for aspects of curriculum development, including literacy initiatives and the monitoring of student progress.
  • Help ensure a consistent, inspiring learning experience for all students, fostering a love of literature and language.


What We're Looking For:

  • Experienced English teacher with a proven track record of success at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Must be fully qualified and have a demonstrable track record of results.
  • Strong understanding of the UK English curriculum and current educational developments.
  • Ability to inspire and lead both students and staff with your passion for English.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a collaborative approach to leadership.
  • A commitment to raising standards and driving continuous improvement within the department.
  • Experience in middle leadership or the ability to demonstrate leadership potential.
