Job Overview:We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Geography Teacher, around the Hackney area, to join a progressive and dynamic secondary school that values academic excellence. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in engaging students with the world around them, helping them understand complex geographical concepts and human-environment interactions. You will inspire students to think critically about physical and human geography, equipping them with skills for analysing and solving global challenges. Your lessons will foster curiosity, environmental awareness, and a passion for geography, preparing students for success in their exams and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

* Plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive geography lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, adapting to the needs of students with varying abilities.* Teach a broad range of topics, including physical geography (e.g., climate, landforms) and human geography (e.g., urbanisation, globalisation), ensuring students develop a deep understanding of key concepts.* Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback while maintaining strong communication with parents and guardians.* Contribute to the development and enhancement of the geography curriculum, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum and exam board specifications.* Lead and support extracurricular activities such as geography clubs, field trips, or environmental projects to deepen student's engagement with the subject.* Stay current with the latest educational trends and best practices in geography teaching through continuous professional development.* Maintain effective classroom management strategies, upholding school behaviour policies to create a focused and respectful learning environment.* Collaborate with colleagues across departments to offer cross-curricular learning opportunities that enhance student's understanding of geography in relation to other subjects.* Able to commute to Hackney

Qualifications and Experience:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialisation in Geography or a related field.* Experience as a Geography Teacher * A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.* Experience teaching geography at the secondary level, ideally across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is a plus).* Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and relevant exam specifications (GCSE, A-Level).* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make geography engaging and accessible to all students.* A commitment to fostering a love for geography, promoting inclusively, and supporting the diverse needs of all learners.* A collaborative, team-oriented approach, with a strong dedication to contributing to the wider school community.
