Role Overview:

I am seeking a motivated and skilled Religious Education teacher to deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons to students in Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5. The ideal candidate will have a strong subject knowledge, a passion for the role of RE in developing young minds, and the ability to teach a range of topics from religious beliefs to ethical debates.

The successful applicant will join a supportive and forward-thinking team and play a key role in promoting spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development across the school. The RE department is well-resourced, and we encourage the use of innovative teaching methods to engage students in deep, meaningful learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Develop and implement an engaging curriculum that aligns with the national curriculum and challenges students to explore the world's religious diversity and ethical frameworks.
  • Assessment: Use a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and supporting students to achieve their potential.
  • Classroom Management: Foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment, using effective behaviour management strategies to ensure students remain engaged and motivated.
  • Pastoral Support: Act as a mentor or form tutor, supporting the personal development and well-being of students while encouraging them to engage with the school's values.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with pedagogical trends and contribute to the development of the department.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues in the RE department and across the school to plan, share best practices, and deliver cross-curricular initiatives.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in Religious Education, Theology, or a related field.
  • Strong Subject Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of religious studies, world religions, ethics, and contemporary moral issues.
  • Passion for Teaching: A genuine desire to inspire young people and help them develop a broad, open-minded perspective on religious and ethical issues.
  • Experience Teaching RE: Previous experience teaching RE at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 is essential. Experience at Key Stage 5 is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, with a positive and approachable manner.
