Science Teacher - Hillingdon

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Science Teacher to join a fantastic Secondary SEN school in Hillingdon. The successful candidate will teach science across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5, depending on specialization and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, well-planned science lessons across KS3 and KS4 (combined and separate sciences)
  • Potentially teach A-Level in your specialist science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  • Assess student progress effectively and provide constructive feedback
  • Implement differentiated teaching strategies to support all learners, including SEN and high achievers
  • Maintain accurate records of student attainment and progress
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching resources
  • Engage with parents through regular communication, parents' evenings, and reports
Essential
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in a relevant science discipline
  • Proven experience teaching science at KS3 and KS4 levels
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum for Science
  • Strong classroom management skills and behavior management techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities
  • Knowledge of current assessment practices
Desirable
  • Experience teaching A-Level in one or more science disciplines
  • Additional qualifications in your specialist area
  • Experience organizing science trips, competitions, or clubs
  • Familiarity with practical risk assessments for science experiments
  • Experience mentoring trainee teachers or NQTs
  • Ability to teach a second science subject outside your specialization
