Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our dynamic Science Department on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is committed to inspiring students and fostering a love for science. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a variety of scientific disciplines, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and a drive to ensure all students reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging science lessons to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

  • Teach across the three core sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) with the ability to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all students.

  • Effectively assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support student development and achievement.

  • Maintain an orderly and positive classroom environment, ensuring students are motivated, engaged, and respectful.

  • Contribute to the development of the Science Department’s curriculum and teaching resources.

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Science Department to share ideas, resources, and best practices.

  • Use data to monitor and support student performance, adapting teaching strategies to improve outcomes.

  • Support the wider school community by contributing to extracurricular activities such as science clubs, field trips, and STEM initiatives.

  • Participate in regular departmental and whole-school meetings, CPD opportunities, and performance reviews.

  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are adhered to in science labs and during practical experiments.

  • Safeguard the well-being of students at all times and contribute to the school’s pastoral care system.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • A degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Combined Science).

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Science (experience in delivering GCSE content is desirable).

  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum and relevant GCSE exam boards (e.g., AQA, Edexcel).
