Science Technician - Immediate Start

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Technician to join our vibrant secondary school in Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the next generation of scientists and to work in a dynamic educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment, materials, and chemicals for science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Support science teachers in practical demonstrations and experiments, ensuring lessons run smoothly
  • Maintain and organise laboratory equipment and ensure a safe and clean environment for students and staff
  • Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage supplies of chemicals and equipment
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on lab equipment
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with all school and legal safety standards
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the science department as required

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in science subjects, with a desire to support secondary education
  • Previous experience as a science technician or in a laboratory setting is preferred but not required-enthusiastic candidates willing to learn on the job are encouraged to apply
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a meticulous approach to handling scientific materials and safety protocols
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and follow instructions precisely
  • DBS on the Update Service is essential
