Science Technician - Secondary School (Lewisham)

Are you passionate about science and eager to support students in a vibrant and dynamic secondary school setting? Our mainstream secondary school in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our team immediately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up science equipment and materials for practical lessons.
  • Support teachers during science practicals and experiments.
  • Maintain and organise science lab resources, ensuring they are safely stored and well-maintained.
  • Assist with the management of health and safety procedures in the science department.
  • Support students during practical work, providing guidance and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Order and maintain stock of materials and equipment, ensuring the labs are well-equipped.
  • Assist with the general administration of the science department as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a technician-based role is preferred but not essential.
  • A keen interest in science and a desire to work in an educational environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A DBS check on the update service is required for this position.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, positive approach to supporting students and staff.
