Your Role:

As the Second in Charge English Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the schools English curriculum and driving excellence in teaching and learning. You will:

  • Deputise for the Subject Coordinator: Assist in leading the creation of outstanding provisions within the subject area, ensuring alignment with the academy's values and vision.
  • Champion Student Progress: Be accountable for student development across KS3, KS4, and post-16, striving to meet ambitious achievement targets set by the Principal and Governing Body.
  • Enhance Teaching Standards: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning through innovative strategies and practices.
  • Curriculum Development: Ensure the schools curriculum is broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated, in line with our academy aims and policies.
  • Lead Literacy Initiatives: Spearhead the development of literacy across all subject areas, raising standards and promoting a love for reading and writing.
  • Model Excellence: Teach as an outstanding practitioner, inspiring both students and colleagues alike.

Qualifications & Experience: To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Have a minimum of one year's teaching experience.
  • Be eager to embrace coaching as a model for ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to identify and implement strategies that raise standards of teaching and learning.
