A small, specialist school for students with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder and speech and language needs are seeking a qualified and suitably experienced maths teacher to join them ASAP. This is a temp role, full time and will be made permanent for the right person.

About the School

All students have an EHCP to support their learning and development, and ASD is their primary need. The school is a supportive, nurturing environment with small class sizes and a range of enrichment and extra-curricular activities catering for students in years 5 to 11 and offer GCSE and equivalent qualifications delivered by highly specialist teachers and support staff.

The school is a state-of-the-art building, which has been especially designed to cater to the needs of students with ASD. Every student has a staff mentor from the outset and access to 1-to-1 mentoring sessions.

The Headteacher is seeking an individual who

  • Has empathy and resilience to work with pupils with high functioning Autism
  • Is a reflective and open to feedback type of teacher
  • Can plan, deliver and tailor Maths teaching to a range of learning levels
  • Works well within a team sharing best practice
  • Has experience of teaching SEN, highly desirable

All students have a bespoke timetable created to meet their individual learning needs and there is a wide range of therapeutic provision. They support students in every aspect of school life and is their aim that every young person have the tools they need to become a successful learner and a confident individual ready for the world beyond education.

To be successful, you will need

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
  • Relevant degree
  • DBS on the update service
  • Secondary Maths Teaching experience in the UK
  • Experience of teaching SEN/ASD mainstream or SEN setting
