Engage Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join a team in Lambeth, supporting neurodiverse young people aged 7 to 19 with complex profiles. All students have Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans, typically including diagnoses such as SEMH, ASD, and related conditions. The goal is to create an environment where students can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

As a higher-level teaching assistant, your role will primarily involve providing expert support, as well as covering various teaching duties across the school’s services. This may include planned class coverage, unplanned short-term coverage, specialist teaching based on your expertise, and targeted interventions. A solid understanding of SEN, neurodiversity, and child development is essential for this position.

Job Description:

  • Planned coverage of a class in place of their usual teacher or group coordinator

  • Planned coverage of support, in place of a Class Teaching Assistant (TA), or Additional Support TA to help regulate pupils who require one-to-one support

  • Planned specialist teaching due to expertise of a subject

  • Regular interventions for a caseload of pupils

  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs

  • Ability to work in a child focused way

  • Ability to deliver teaching to classes based on pre-determined lesson plans as well as work with small groups of individual pupils

  • Effective communication skills

  • Outstanding listening skills

  • Ability to recognise and understand young people’s needs

  • Reflect on your own practice and to always seek self-improvement

  • Good organisational skills, ability to plan, manage and prioritise workload.

  • Ability to develop constructive and appropriate relationships with pupils
