Are you a passionate and experienced professional eager to support and inspire students to achieve their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team and make a meaningful impact in our school community.

About the Role

As a HLTA, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing teaching and learning, providing essential support to students, and contributing to their academic and personal development. Under the guidance of teaching staff, you will:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning activities for individuals, small groups, or whole classes.
  • Assess, record, and report on pupil progress, achievement, and development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and professionals to support SEND learners in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Provide pastoral care and promote the inclusion of all pupils in school life.
  • Manage and develop other teaching assistants, including their training and performance.
  • Take responsibility for pupils during visits, trips, and extra-curricular activities.
What We're Looking For

We're seeking a motivated individual with the following:

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years' experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Proven ability to plan and lead teaching and learning activities for groups or whole classes.
  • Experience working in partnership with parents and professionals to support pupil needs.

Education and Training:

  • GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • HLTA qualification (or willingness to complete the HLTA training).
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and equalities and diversity policies in schools.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and how to foster independent learning.
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons aligned with departmental schemes of work.
  • Leadership skills to manage and develop a team of teaching assistants.
  • Calmness and resilience in managing challenging situations.

Desirable:

  • First Aid training or willingness to undertake training.
