Pastoral Assistant - Secondary School - Immediate Start - Southwark, South East London

Remedy Education is currently seeking a Pastoral Assistant for a well-regarded secondary school in Southwark, South East London. This vital role is available for an immediate start and involves working closely with students, teachers, and families to ensure a positive and supportive school environment for Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, helping them manage personal and academic challenges
  • Work closely with the Pastoral Team and other school staff to promote student wellbeing
  • Address behavioural issues with compassion and firmness, ensuring students feel supported
  • Foster positive relationships with students and their families, maintaining open lines of communication
  • Monitor and support students' attendance, punctuality, and academic progress
  • Assist with any safeguarding concerns, adhering to school policies and procedures
  • Be a visible presence around the school, particularly during key times like breaks and transitions, to support student welfare

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a pastoral or student support role
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
  • A caring, empathetic approach, with the ability to manage sensitive situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dedicated pastoral team
  • A genuine passion for student wellbeing and creating a positive school environment

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Paid up to £105 to £125 per day, term time only
  • Located in Hackney, London - easily accessible via public transport
