Join our dedicated team at REED Education, where we collaborate with schools across Southeast London to nurture every student to reach their full potential. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant for Hearing-Impaired Students to provide essential support in an inclusive and supportive environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist in the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for hearing-impaired students.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, both in and out of the classroom.
- Facilitate communication between hearing-impaired students and their peers, teachers, and other staff using assistive technologies and resources.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support students with their social and emotional development.
- Assist with classroom management and organisation.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with hearing-impaired children is preferred.
- A relevant qualification in education or special needs support is desirable.
- Proficiency in sign language (e.g., BSL, ASL) is highly advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
