Aston Education works in partnership with an Ofsted Good secondary academy in Southwark, Southeast London. They are looking for a Teaching Fellow, a job that is aimed at graduates who intend to apply for a School Direct PGCE for the next academic year 2025-2026.

Teaching Fellows will carry out the role of a teaching assistant but will also have opportunities to take on groups and cover or teach some classes in order to develop your confidence and skills in readiness for the Teacher Training programme.

Under the direction of the assigned Curriculum Leader or SENDCO, Teaching Fellows work as part of a team to promote the achievement of pupils, including those with Special Needs.

They complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/ groups or short term for whole classes and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupils’ achievement, progress and development.

The successful Teaching Fellow will:

  • Hold a minimum of a 2:2 degree
  • Have a GCSE Grade C (4) in Mathematics and English Language
  • Be passionate about teaching and have the desire to make a positive difference to the lives of the young people
  • Have the presence and character to relate to the students at this school
  • In time, be able to design and deliver engaging and purposeful lessons to whole classes
