Job Purpose
Manage the day-to-day operations of projects, ensuring profitability and growth within the Division by delivering high-quality services to customers while adhering to budgetary guidelines and processes. Provide frontline support for both internal and external clients on projects and small works modifications. The role requires expertise in CCTV, access control, security systems, and automatic fire systems. Experience with large commercial clients and multiple manufacturers is an advantage. This is a working supervisor role with a 70% focus on hands-on work and 30% on administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in fire and security installations, system upgrades, and modifications in line with contracts.
  • Supervise engineers and specialist subcontractors, ensuring high standards of work.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Assist with business planning, regularly reviewing performance to meet financial targets.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals, set objectives, and review progress for team members.
  • Identify and resolve service delivery issues to meet contractual obligations and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards to maintain contract integrity.
  • Regularly meet with customers to sustain and enhance existing business, addressing any contractual or commercial issues.
  • Support the project delivery team in expanding the value of business within existing contracts.
  • Supervise subcontractors and manage the procurement of materials within the preferred supplier framework.
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing of all contract-related works.
  • Produce monthly reports covering both reactive and planned works.
  • Manage Work in Progress (WIP), ensuring no work order remains open for more than 90 days.
  • Oversee all health, safety, security, environmental, and technical compliance matters.
  • Assist in staff welfare, including identifying and addressing training needs.

 

Essential Experience:

  • Project Management: Demonstrated experience in overseeing installations, upgrades, and maintenance projects for fire and security systems.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of fire alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm technologies.
  • Team Supervision: Proven ability to manage and coordinate on-site engineers and subcontractors effectively.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, including BS 5839, BS 5266, and NSI standards.
  • Budgeting and Scheduling: Proficient in managing project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation efficiently.
  • Client Liaison: Experience in communicating effectively with clients to manage expectations and provide regular project updates.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify and resolve on-site issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Quality Control: Commitment to ensuring that installation work complies with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Documentation: Experience in preparing project reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Vendor Coordination: Skilled in managing supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.

 

Desirable Qualifications (must be valid and up-to-date):

  • ESC Card.
  • 18th Edition Electrical Qualification
  • IPAF certification.
  • PASMA certification.
  • FIA industry accreditation (up to installation).
  • Relevant electrical qualifications.
  • First Aid certification (minimum 3 days).
