The Role

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will:

  • Act as the primary contact for safeguarding and welfare concerns, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Manage safeguarding cases, including welfare concerns and child protection issues, providing timely and appropriate responses.
  • Maintain accurate records of all safeguarding concerns, ensuring data security and compliance with data protection laws.
  • Build strong relationships with local safeguarding agencies, Prevent Coordinators, and professional networks.
  • Conduct safeguarding risk assessments and contribute to the development of safeguarding practices and policies.
  • Deliver training sessions to raise awareness of safeguarding and Prevent across the organization.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure safeguarding is embedded in all aspects of the business.
  • Perform spot checks and audits on JTL Centres and subcontracted partners to ensure compliance and evaluate safeguarding culture.
What We're Looking For

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification with strong GCSE passes in Maths and English (A-C or 8-4).
  • Level 3 safeguarding qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a safeguarding role within education.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, including Prevent, and equality and diversity laws.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in IT, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Desirable:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with apprenticeships and their safeguarding requirements.
