About The Role:Hours of work: 4 on, 4 offThe Security Officer is responsible for the security, safety and welfare of building/estate inhabitants and visitors. The Security Officer will protect the assets in the building by maintaining a vigilant, pro-active security presence to minimize security risks to people and property. They will need to be able to spend reasonable periods of time during a 12-hour shift both on patrol and standing on post. As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure full understanding of the emergency procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment under their responsibility is serviceable and in good working order, escalating to the Supervisor if not.
  • Provide security escorts to all areas of the building as and when required.
  • Ensure a radio is always carried whilst on duty.
  • Report any issues immediately to your Supervisor, DSM or Manager.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner always.
  • Ensure SIA licence is always on your person and on display.
  • Control all aspects of access and egress to the building.
  • Ensure those who should not be granted access to the building are professionally and politely prevented from gaining access or escorted from the building.
  • Provide visitors to the building with helpful advice, guidance and information. And if not able to do so, direct to the correct personnel who can assist.
  • Complete internal and external patrols as instructed.
  • Assist in all types of evacuations and emergency incidents that may occur.
  • Respond to these in a calm and professional manner. Actively provide information to any emergency services when requested to do so.
  • Report security or safety issues to your supervisor or Manager immediately.
  • Deal with conflict in an appropriate and confident manner, if required.
  • Assist Supervisors in producing incident reports.
  • Carry out ID checks in line with instructions issued.
  • Carry out searches of areas and persons in accordance with assignment instructions.
  • Be vigilant to the Health & Safety risks.
  • Follow all reasonable requests for the Supervisor, Manager or any member of the Management team.
  • Ensure you are immaculately presented, in accordance with company regulations and client expectations.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • Experience of working within the Security Industry is an advantage
  • SIA licence is essential
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • A professional demeanour with sound judgement and integrity
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic
