Join Police Digital Service as a TecSAFE Manager - starting salary £65,000

Potential start date: 1st March 2025

TecSAFE is a covert technical solution, delivered by a small team within PDS, which assists the Police to safeguard vulnerable individuals across all communities.

The service was first established over 13 years ago and is now live in 37 UK police forces. During that time nearly 30,000 users have benefitted from the service. TecSAFE continues to develop and explore new opportunities through technology.

Independent evaluations have demonstrated that in addition to life-saving interventions, TecSAFE also;

  • Enhances police response through provision of tracking and location capabilities directly into police control rooms
  • Incorporates significant enhancement to the emergency call process
  • Reduces repeat offending
  • Reduces fear
  • Improves quality of life by providing protection to the user whilst they are away from their home address

The service is provided on a ‘not-for-profit’ basis and is delivered to police forces by a small team of experienced managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with various police departments, particularly Control Rooms and Public Protection Units
  • Delivering training on the service to operational officers
  • Liaising with local MARAC’s and other multi-agency partners
  • Assisting with out-of-hours on call – currently one week in every 3
  • Managing and overseeing delivery of the service within their Force portfolio
  • Leading and or assisting with the development of new products
  • Seeking opportunities to further expand the roll-out of the project.

Key Criteria

  • Previous experience of working in or with the police service
  • Familiarity with current domestic abuse legislation and procedures
  • Proven ability to operate at both strategic and operational level.
  • A track record of successful project management
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work unsupervised
  • Previous experience of partnership working
  • Creative and innovative in all areas of work
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle

The successful applicant will be based at their home address, but likely to involve responsibility for liaison with Police Forces in the North of England. The role will involve travel and may require occasional overnight stays.

Key aspects of the role involve:

  • Engaging with key senior leaders within Policing and partner agencies
  • Managing and overseeing delivery of the service within their Force portfolio
  • Seeking opportunities to further expand the roll-out of the project
  • Engaging with Suppliers and wider stakeholders
  • Working to VAWG principles to safeguard those most vulnerable in our communities.

All applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been approved before starting with PDS.
