Emergency Housing Officer

We are looking for a proactive Emergency Housing Officer to support individuals and families facing housing crises. This role is critical in ensuring residents have access to safe and suitable temporary accommodation, providing immediate assistance to those at risk of homelessness.
You will work in a fast-paced environment, responding to emergency housing needs, assessing applications, and coordinating placements in temporary accommodation, private sector housing, or emergency shelters.

Key Responsibilities
·Respond to urgent housing cases, providing immediate advice and securing appropriate accommodation.
·Work under the Homelessness Reduction Act, assessing cases and offering sustainable housing solutions.
·Handle applications for temporary and emergency housing, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
·Assist individuals in maintaining their accommodation and signpost to welfare, financial, and legal services.
·Liaise with landlords, support services, and housing providers to source emergency placements.
·Maintain accurate records and ensure decisions align with housing legislation and policies.

About You
·Previous experience in housing options, homelessness prevention, or emergency housing services.
·Must have experience with Dynamics, Northgate or Locata
·Strong understanding of homelessness law, housing allocations, and welfare benefits.
·Excellent casework management and problem-solving abilities.
·Strong communication and negotiation skills.
·Ability to work under pressure in urgent housing situations.
·A compassionate and proactive approach, with the ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
