Job Description: We are seeking a knowledgeable and empathetic Housing Advice & Homelessness Prevention Officer to join our Housing Services team. This role focuses on providing expert housing advice, supporting individuals at risk of homelessness, and helping them find sustainable solutions. You will be a key point of contact for individuals seeking housing advice and will play an important role in homelessness prevention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive housing advice and information to individuals and families at risk of homelessness, including their rights and available housing options.
  • Undertake assessments to identify housing needs and risk factors, developing personalized action plans to prevent homelessness.
  • Work with clients to explore preventative solutions, such as debt management, tenancy mediation, and referrals to support services.
  • Provide support to individuals facing eviction, negotiating with landlords and other parties where appropriate to prevent the loss of accommodation.
  • Assist clients in applying for housing assistance, temporary accommodation, and other services to stabilize their housing situation.
  • Liaise with local agencies, landlords, and external partners to ensure the effective delivery of housing advice and services.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of housing legislation, policies, and local housing options.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, case progress, and outcomes.
  • Provide support with housing applications, including the completion of paperwork and the identification of suitable housing solutions.
  • Promote awareness of homelessness prevention services and housing support programs within the community.
  • Advocate for clients to ensure they receive appropriate support, services, and housing opportunities.
  • Stay informed about changes to housing law, government policies, and local authority regulations.
