Job Description:

Marks Consulting Partners is currently recruiting for a Housing Officer to join a dynamic and growing team based in South London. As a Housing Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality housing management services, working directly with tenants and residents to ensure their needs are met. You will focus on providing a safe, secure, and well-maintained living environment while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tenancy Management: Manage all aspects of tenancy agreements, including sign-ups, renewals, terminations, and enforcement of tenancy conditions.
  • Rent Arrears: Monitor and manage rent accounts, working with tenants to prevent arrears and develop payment plans.
  • Resident Support: Provide advice and assistance to residents on a wide range of housing issues, including welfare benefits and housing options.
  • Estate Management: Ensure that estates are maintained to a high standard by working closely with maintenance teams and contractors.
  • Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB): Address and manage cases of anti-social behaviour, liaising with external agencies and ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Property Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of properties and communal areas, identifying and addressing issues such as repairs, safety concerns, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with residents, community groups, and external partners to promote community cohesion and participation.
  • Safeguarding: Identify and report safeguarding concerns, ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable residents.
  • Compliance: Ensure all housing services are delivered in compliance with current housing legislation, policies, and regulations.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using housing management systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience working within a housing management or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of housing legislation, tenancy agreements, and welfare benefits.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage difficult situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Experience handling anti-social behaviour cases and rent arrears.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams, external partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using housing management software and MS Office suite.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Full driving licence preferred but not essential.
