The Role:

We are looking for a proactive and caring Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SEN team to support students who have special educational needs (SEN) or require additional help to access the curriculum. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with young people and making a real difference in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to students with a range of learning needs, including those with SEN, in a one-on-one or small group setting.
  • Assist teachers in the planning, preparation, and delivery of differentiated lessons to ensure all students can engage with the curriculum.
  • Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment that encourages independence and confidence in students.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, helping them to manage behavior and overcome barriers to learning.
  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other support staff to implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and strategies.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers as required.
  • Assist with classroom management and ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of special educational needs (SEN) and strategies to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential.
