We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our Primary Mainstream Inclusion Unit, supporting pupils with Autism in Lewisham. Learning Support Assistant - About the role:

Key Responsibilities of a Learning support assistant-

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with Autism within the mainstream classroom setting
  • Work closely with class teachers to implement individualised learning strategies and behavioural support plans
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and communication development
  • Help create an inclusive, nurturing learning environment for all pupils
  • Assist in preparing and adapting teaching materials to meet the specific needs of pupils
  • Monitor and track the progress of individual students and provide feedback to the teaching team

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism or other SEN needs, ideally within a mainstream school setting
  • Strong understanding of autism and inclusive education practices
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting pupils
  • A commitment to the holistic development of children, both academically and socially
