SEND Teaching Assistant:
This school are looking for a strong, dedicated and passionate SEND teaching assistant to join their hardworking team. The ideal candidate will have a background in supporting learning with a focus on SEND. The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant who can become an empathetic member of the team in a thriving environment; supporting the growth and learning of pupils. The candidate will have experience working with children who display additional learning needs and require support in their learning. This role is essential for fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all students can progress both academically and socially.
Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support to a student with complex needs, including those who display aggressive behaviours or require assistance with personal care and hygiene.
Assist teachers in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies tailored to the students specific needs.
Foster a nurturing and structured learning environment to help the student develop emotional regulation and positive social skills.
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to monitor progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
Act as a role model, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding while building a trusting relationship with the student.
Manage challenging behaviours using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
Support the student in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities.
Requirements
Previous experience working with children who have complex needs, including challenging behaviours and autism, is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with the student, teachers, and parents.
A calm and resilient approach to managing aggressive or disruptive behaviours.
Ability to assist with personal care tasks, including supporting the student with self-care and hygiene routines.
A passion for supporting children with additional needs and fostering an inclusive environment.
Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or child development would be advantageous but are not essential.

The pay range advertised is based on employment through an umbrella company.
