Learning Support Assistant

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a Special School in Loughton, Essex. The ideal candidate will have a genuine desire to support students with Autism, Physical Disabilities, and other forms of Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role requires working with pupils with communication difficulties, including non-verbal children, and therefore knowledge of phonics and use of visual aids is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to students with Autism, SEN, and physical disabilities
  • Managing pupil emotions and creating a productive learning environment
  • Utilising knowledge of Autism and other forms of SEN to support both verbal and non-verbal pupils
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with students
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in implementing individual education plans

Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS certificate (registered on the update service) or willingness to obtain a new one
  • Experience working with students with Autism, SEN, and physical disabilities
  • Understanding of managing pupil emotions and creating a supportive learning environment
  • Knowledge of phonics and experience working with non-verbal children
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive rapport with students
  • Genuine desire to support children with SEN

Day-to-day

The role involves working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The pay ranges from 85- 95 per day, with weekly pay ((Apply online only) per week). This is a temporary to permanent position, with the opportunity for a permanent contract after completing 12 academic weeks.
