We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Worker to join our team, providing essential support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is crucial in facilitating access to learning programmes, college services, and activities, as well as supporting personal development and educational outcomes aligned with individual Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide person-centred learning support to students with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities, which may include personal care.
  • Work with individuals or small groups to encourage engagement with activities or to work independently.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents/carers, and other agencies involved with the students.
  • Assist learners with personal care and mobility, taking instructions from learners regarding their support needs.
  • Cover classes in the Hair and Beauty area, as well as some Maths and English classes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must hold an enhanced DBS dated within the last 3 years.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills, competent in Maths and English up to GCSE level 2.
  • Experience of working with SEN learners in a secondary or further education environment is desirable.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, discrimination issues, and the challenges faced by individuals with learning difficulties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish good working relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills combined with proficient IT knowledge and sound administration skills.
  • Experience in Hair and Beauty is preferable but not essential.
