Further Education (FE) College located in the London Borough of Greenwich is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join on a Monday to Friday position to start immediately.

The successful LSA will provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, including Autisic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, behavioural challenges, and physical disabilities requiring the use of a wheelchair. The LSA will work in various settings, including classroom environments, 1:1 support, and small group sessions, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed academically and personally.

  • Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons, adapting materials, and providing support to students with additional needs to facilitate their learning and participation.
  • Must live in easy commutable distance to the London Borough of Greenwich
  • Experience: Previous experience working as an LSA OR SEN TA / Behaviour TA / Behaviour Mentor / or in a similar role within an educational setting, preferably in FE.
  • Specialised Knowledge: Demonstrable experience supporting students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, behavioural challenges, and physical disabilities.
  • 1:1 Support: Provide individualized support to students, helping them with their academic work, social skills, and personal development.
  • Small Group Support: Conduct small group sessions to address specific learning needs, reinforce classroom instruction, and build social and communication skills.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to manage and improve student behaviour, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Support for ASD, ADHD, SEMH: Tailor support strategies to meet the unique needs of students with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH, promoting their engagement and success.
  • Wheelchair Users Support: Assist students who use wheelchairs with mobility, accessing classroom materials, and participating in college activities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress, support provided, and any incidents that occur, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and confidential.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff members to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Training and Development: Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with additional needs.
  • Safeguarding: Adhere to college safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
