Tezlom are recruiting a SupportWorker who can provide people with flexible packages of support and have experience working with substance abuse.

The service can provide a variety of supported living arrangements, including: individual homes, shared supported houses and extra care services and within the community.

As a Support Worker some of the duties will include:

  • Developing domestic and life skills (house-keeping, shopping, cooking, cleaning, personal care etc.);
  • Giving medication;
  • Delivering excellent drug and alcohol services to service users and their significant others, including family members friends and carers, to facilitate positive outcomes.
  • Managing a case load, coordinating, and delivered assessment and evidence-based interventions (brief and structured), recovery planning and aftercare planning.
  • Managing their money, including paying bills;
  • Support to attend college, work placements and other activities;
  • Accompaniment to appointments;
  • Socialising and meeting new people;
  • Help accessing other services;
  • Travel training;
  • Keeping safe and healthy; and
  • Filling out forms; and much more.

However, it is important to remember that this is not a complete list and there will be people needing support who do not fit neatly into these groups.

As a Support Worker you will need to focus on getting to know people - how they want to be supported, what they want to achieve in life and what is important to them - to offer support that is as individual as they are.
