Tezlom are recruiting a Substance Use Recovery Worker who can provide people with flexible packages of support and have experience working with substance abuse.
The service can provide a variety of supported living arrangements, including: individual homes, shared supported houses and extra care services and within the community.
As a Substance Use Recovery Worker some of the duties will include:
- Developing domestic and life skills (house-keeping, shopping, cooking, cleaning, personal care etc.);
- Conduct assessments to evaluate the severity and nature of a client's substance misuse or addiction
- Delivering excellent drug and alcohol services to service users and their significant others, including family members friends and carers, to facilitate positive outcomes.
- Offer practical guidance and strategies for relapse prevention and developing healthier coping mechanisms
- Managing a case load, coordinating, and delivered assessment and evidence-based interventions (brief and structured), recovery planning and aftercare planning.
- Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Managing their money, including paying bills;
- Support to attend college, work placements and other activities;
- Accompaniment to appointments;
- Socialising and meeting new people;
- Help accessing other services;
- Travel training;
- Keeping safe and healthy; and
- Filling out forms; and much more.
However, it is important to remember that this is not a complete list and there will be people needing support who do not fit neatly into these groups.
As a Substance Use Recovery Worker you will need to focus on getting to know people - how they want to be supported, what they want to achieve in life and what is important to them - to offer support that is as individual as they are.
