Support Worker Upper Norwood

Salary: £12.60 to £13.50 per hour depending on experience and qualification.

45 hours per week - 08.00am-06.00pm, Mon-Sun (alternate weekends)

Dinardos is a well-established Supported Housing provider based in South East London. We specialise in supporting adults with challenging and complex Mental Health needs including rough sleepers, drugs, alcohol and substance misuse as well as challenging behaviour.

The role of Support Worker will be to empower and guide our residents to live as independently as possible with our continual guidance and support. You will work with residents based on their agreed and personalised support plan which will continue to evolve based on progress and/or changes required (SMART support planning and risk assessing). We use a framework of positive risk taking to inform our key working sessions. The role also includes planning and taking part in activities and escorting residents to appointments and activities in the community therefore you'll need to be motivated and committed to support in this way.

About the role:

  • To provide a comprehensive support service working on strengths-based approach to practical and emotional needs.
  • Encourage residents to develop and rediscover social skills
  • To support residents to develop activities which encourage daily living skills
  • Assist with general financial management
  • Ensure residents recognise their mental health needs and comply with medications that have been prescribed to manage this
  • Endorse good health and well-being and the benefits of adhering to general practices.
  • You'll be responsible for continually updating support plans and recording and evidencing changes, incidents, accidents, etc.
  • To create SMART support plans and comprehensive risk assessments to empower our residents and keep them safe from harm, abuse or neglect.

About you:

  • A strong communicator verbally and in writing as you'll be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and produce written updates and reports.
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Patient, a good listener and empathic with residents who may have suffered abuse, neglect and severe challenges over a number of years.
  • Reflective working is key to empower and strengthen relationships with our residents
  • Professional and respectful approach to colleagues and residents
  • Willingness to participate with the planning and taking part in activities
  • Able to follow company policies and procedures to fulfill the requirements of the role
