Job Title: Behaviour Buddy
Salary/Rate: £95 - £110 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm

Milk Education are seeking a full-time Behaviour buddy to encourage confidence in pupils at a Pupil Referral Unit located in Westminster. This is a full time, term time only. This role is a great opportunity to join a school if unqualified and want to make a difference. You do not need to hold a formal qualification for this role, we are looking for candidates that have transferable skills and experience (including volunteering) with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or any experience of working with children.
The role includes supporting and inspiring vulnerable young people to be the best they can be as well as provide educational progress and ambition necessary for a successful reintegration into mainstream school. The successful candidate will assist staff to ease behavioural and mental health related blocks to learning, and provide opportunities that keep pace with the pupil’s ability to learn and achieve.
The Behaviour Buddy will:
- Work as a mentor (1:1 and in groups) with a view to helping them develop skills that equip them to better manage their behaviour and work constructively with others.
- Plan and facilitate structured games and activities to support pupils to make appropriate choices during unstructured times such as lunch and break times.
- Encourage the inclusion of the pupils additional needs by using positive behaviour management techniques designed to develop the pupil’s ability to behave appropriately with the inclusion of behaviour management strategies set in place by the school.
- Provide specific support to this pupil dependent upon their individual needs and implement strategies to support this pupil with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties
- Model, within the class, support strategies that will encourage and develop appropriate behaviour in a variety of settings i.e. with individuals and group/whole class
- Model group-based activities that will develop this pupil’s problem-solving, listening, and social skills
