The Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Social Worker to join our Adolescent and Youth Offending Service. As a member of the team, you will work with children and their families, delivering high-quality social work services with a focus on safeguarding and promoting their welfare. This is an opportunity to work within a supportive team environment, with access to reflective supervision, ongoing professional development, and opportunities to contribute to service improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and provide services to children and families in need, working within the framework of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
- Undertake analytical and reflective single assessments within statutory timescales, ensuring the child's voice is consistently heard and recorded.
- Work collaboratively with other council divisions, health, education, police, and other statutory and voluntary sector providers.
- Deliver key responsibilities for children subject to child protection plans and children in care who are deemed at risk.
- Promote timely permanency planning for children in care in accordance with the Adoption Act 2002.
- Ensure accurate case records using ICT and ICS systems, and comply with case recording guidance.
- Engage in regular supervision, training, and development activities to enhance professional practice.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and resilient social worker who is committed to achieving the best outcomes for adolescents and their families. You will need to demonstrate:
- A Social Work qualification (e.g., DIPSW, CQSW, or equivalent) and current Social Work England registration.
- A strong understanding of current social work issues within Children's Services.
- Excellent assessment, risk analysis, and decision-making skills to protect children from harm.
- Experience of working within the court arena and undertaking direct work with children and families.
- A commitment to anti-oppressive practice and promoting equality and diversity.
