Senior Social Worker, Fostering Team, North LondonRole Overview: Pertemps is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner to join the Fostering Team within the Carers Assessment Team. This role is essential in ensuring the completion and quality assurance of Viability Assessments (VAs), Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs), and Connected Carer assessments.Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete and quality assure Viability Assessments (VAs), SGOs, and Connected Carer assessments.
  • Provide expert oversight of assessment processes to ensure high-quality decision-making.
  • Support the care proceedings process by providing specialist assessments and reports.
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced social workers, providing guidance, coaching, and support.
  • Work collaboratively with child protection teams and contribute to care planning for children in need of alternative care.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and best practices in fostering and kinship care.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and development opportunities to enhance service delivery.
Key Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration.
  • Proven experience in completing VAs, SGOs, and Connected Carer assessments.
  • Strong ability to quality assure viability assessments.
  • Preferable experience in Child Protection (CP) and care proceedings.
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Knowledge of fostering, kinship care, and permanency planning.
  • Excellent report-writing, analytical, and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-agency teams.
