Social Worker - Intervention & Planning Team, London Borough of Barnet - Up to £37 per hour

This is an exciting opportunity to join a long-term, supportive team, where you will play a crucial role in safeguarding children and promoting their well-being. You will be working on complex cases, including Court work, Child in Need, and Child Protection, providing vital support and intervention to families in need.

About the Role:

As a Social Worker in the Intervention and Planning team, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a complex caseload: Working with children and families facing a range of challenges, including child protection concerns, family breakdown, and other complex social issues.
  • Court Work Expertise: Preparing court reports, attending court hearings, and representing the Local Authority's interests in care proceedings. This is a core function of the role, and demonstrable experience in this area is essential.
  • Child in Need and Child Protection: Conducting assessments, developing and implementing Child in Need plans and Child Protection plans, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Identifying and assessing risk factors, developing safety plans, and implementing appropriate interventions to mitigate risks.
  • Direct Work with Families: Engaging with children and families, building rapport, and providing support, advice, and guidance.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Working in partnership with a range of agencies, including health, education, police, and voluntary organisations, to provide holistic support to families.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintaining Accurate Records: Maintaining comprehensive and accurate case records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

About You:

  • Essential: A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Essential: Significant experience of working within a similar Intervention and Planning team, specifically with Court work, Child in Need, and Child Protection cases. Experience in these areas is paramount for this role.
  • Essential: A strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and related guidance.
