Job Title: Director of Housing Standards

Location: Central London / Hybrid

Contract: 6-months ongoing

Pay: £750 to £900 per day DOE (Inside IR35)

A Central London Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Housing Standards to join their team.

Main Responsibilities

  • To act as the Council's strategic advisor on all aspects of housing asset management including procurement of works and opportunities for rationalization, disposal, reconfiguration, and associated investment in order to maximize the utility of the Council's entire asset base. ·
  • Lead / support the delivery of service transformation and improvement projects in housing services that meet the Council's corporate and business objectives. · Ensure the Council achieves high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction in all areas of asset management services and demonstrates excellence, continuous improvement, value for money, effective program management and best environmental outcomes. ·
  • In collaboration with the Housing Leadership Team jointly lead / support the development, delivery and embedding of our improvement program, including quality improvement, research and best practice and driving innovation in the work.
  • Advising the Strategic Director, Chief Executive, Council and Members on all aspects of the services the post holder is responsible for and support the administration in the delivery of its priorities, with a particular focus on the Housing service.
  • Ensure the service is compliant with all extant legal and regulatory requirements relating to the Council's housing management service and prepared for any forthcoming changes to legal or regulatory requirements.
  • Develop our approach to reshaping and improving the service and investment around new regulatory requirements for building safety.
  • Ensure there is effective integration of related services within and across the Directorate and the Council. Foster important relationships across the Council with other services driving a holistic outcome for Westminster residents.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Strong background in asset management
  • Strong knowledge of compliancy and building safety
  • Experience and knowledge of managing construction, in particular the functions, competencies and processes involved in successful delivery
  • Well informed critical thinking / analysis to inform change and transformation
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Change and transformation experience
  • Professional Property/Housing background
