Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Homelessness Prevention Adviser for a Local Authority Client based in North London.

In this role, you will provide tailored advice and support to vulnerable individuals and households, helping them navigate housing options, prevent homelessness, and access essential services like welfare benefits, employment opportunities, and well being resources.

About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Provide tailored advice on housing options, welfare benefits, debt management, and employment opportunities to customers at risk of homelessness.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, maintaining accurate records and meeting performance targets.
  • Prevent homelessness through negotiation, mediation, or securing alternative housing solutions.
  • Deliver advice through drop-in services, telephone, outreach sessions, and home visits when necessary.
  • Assist customers with housing applications and guide them through bidding processes for permanent housing.

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Experience working in a housing advice, homelessness prevention, or related service.
  • Proven ability to manage a varied caseload, including landlord/tenant disputes, welfare rights, and homelessness.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals or households at risk of homelessness.
  • Knowledge of the public and private housing sectors and the options available for those in housing need.

What's on offer:

Salary: £20+ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
