Job Title: Homelessness Prevention and Assessment Officer

Location: Lewisham

Hours Per Week: 35 hours

Rate of Pay: £27 P/H (Umbrella)

Lewisham Council are currently looking for an experienced Homelessness Prevention and Assessment Officer to join their Housing Division.

Main Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive, high quality homeless prevention, support and advice service to all households who are homeless or being threatened with homelessness.
  • Prevent and resolve homelessness within the borough through the provision of impartial advice in alignment with housing legislation.
  • Investigate the circumstances of customers presenting to the Council as homeless and determine what duty the authority owes them and to issue robust s184 decision letters accordingly.
  • Facilitating appropriate move-on, by making homelessness decision on the existing cases by discharging duty offers made under s.193 and PRS offers.

The Candidate Will Have:

  • Knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, the Homelessness Act 2002, and the Localism Act 2011.
  • Experience with s.184 decision letters.
