Housing Officer

Contract: Temporary role (3-month contract)Location: Hackney (Office-based)Pay Rate: £25.00 per hour (Umbrella)Additional Requirement: Enhanced DBS check required

Responsibilities of the Housing Officer:
  • Manage tenancy-related issues, including voids, allocations, sign-ups, and tenancy breaches while ensuring compliance with housing policies.
  • Collaborate with support providers, external agencies, and internal teams to sustain tenancies and provide housing-related support.
  • Monitor rent accounts, manage arrears recovery, and liaise with housing benefit services to ensure timely payments.
  • Conduct property inspections, oversee repairs, and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations.
  • Handle complaints, enforce tenancy agreements, and attend court proceedings when necessary.
Requirements of the Housing Officer:
  • Previous experience in housing management, tenancy sustainment, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy management, and welfare benefits.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with tenants and agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintaining accurate records.
