About the Young Adults and Pause Service

We support children in care and care leavers aged 16-25, offering vital services to ensure positive futures. Our team also manages the referral, assessment, and support for unaccompanied minors and delivers the Pause programme, which provides trauma-informed support to women at risk of repeat child removals.

Haringey's approach to care leavers was rated Good by Ofsted in 2023, highlighting our strong housing and employment support, stable workforce, and relationship-based practice. About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Service Manager to lead service improvements, ensuring high-quality support for young adults leaving care. You will:

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team, ensuring all staff are supported and engaged in continuous professional development.

  • Drive service development and performance through risk analysis, data monitoring, and direct feedback from service users.

  • Ensure smooth operational delivery of services, embedding a culture of high standards, accountability, and professional practice.

  • Develop and enhance support services for care leavers and unaccompanied minors, in line with legislative and regulatory frameworks.

  • Strengthen multi-agency working, building strong relationships with external partners, including health, housing, and employment services.

  • Take a strategic lead on complex cases, including those involving No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), ensuring fair and lawful decision-making.

  • Oversee budget management and resource allocation, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.

  • Implement best practice models, driving forward innovation in support services for young people.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, working closely with Ofsted and other regulatory bodies.

  • Champion diversity and inclusion, ensuring services are accessible and culturally sensitive to the diverse needs of Haringey's young people.

About You

We are looking for a resilient and authoritative leader who places young people at the centre of practice. The successful candidate will have:

  • At least two years' experience at Service Manager level or above within children's social care.

  • A Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.

  • Extensive experience managing care leaver services, unaccompanied minors, and adolescent social work.

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams.

  • Experience in delivering trauma-informed practice and understanding the complexities of young people's transition into independence.

  • The ability to assess risk and make strategic decisions in a multi-agency environment.

  • A track record of embedding best practice models and training initiatives within teams.

  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with experience of working with partners across multiple agencies.

  • A commitment to ensuring young people receive a high-quality, strengths-based, and relationship-focused service.
