Children's Social Care Team Manager
You will be responsible for managing a team of social workers and support staff, ensuring that cases of children in need, children subject to child protection plans, and Looked After Children are managed effectively and in accordance with all relevant legislation and policies. Your role includes overseeing complex caseloads, assessing needs, planning and delivering interventions, and ensuring positive outcomes for children and families. You will supervise and support your team members in handling challenging and complex cases, and be a key point of contact for inter-agency collaboration. As part of your leadership, you will oversee the development of best practices within the team, facilitate case discussions, and chair multi-disciplinary meetings.
The Role Requires:
- Extensive experience in MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub), working with vulnerable children, including those on the child protection register or involved in legal proceedings.
- A minimum of two years post-ASYE (Assessed and Supported Year in Employment) or three years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
- The ability to commute to the office at least twice a week.
Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation.
- Familiarity with the services and resources available to children and families, including knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
- Understanding of the social work intervention process and the ability to support a team in applying these methods.
Experience:
- Relevant post-qualification experience in children and families social work, with a proven track record in managing complex cases, supporting social workers, and contributing to the development of practice standards.
- Experience of supervising contested care proceedings and providing practice teaching to junior staff.
- Expertise in multi-disciplinary working, particularly in safeguarding children, and leading a team in delivering high-quality social care services.
Qualifications:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work or Social Care.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential.
Special Requirements:
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this position.
