An experienced Behavioural Support Assistant is needed for an ASAP start in a disciplined and high achieving secondary school in Hackney, East London. As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will be working closely with students with SEN, supporting them throughout the school day. The school holds their students to high standards, and as a behavioural support assiastant you will be tasked with ensuring these are met. Your focus will be in the SEN department, supporting young people aged 11-16.

You will be based in a secondary school in the heart of Hackney, who believe that creating an environment where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally is key to student success. They have high expections for their students, and work to prepare them for their future post-education. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be an integral part of the school community, working closely with students, teachers, and parents to promote positive behavior and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment. You will utilise your expertise and experience to develop and implement effective behaviour management strategies tailored to the unique needs of secondary school students.

As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will also support students throughout the school day, including during lessons. You will be working with students on a 1-1 basis, supporting them academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Implementing tailored learning strategies and interventions as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to ensure the individual needs of students are met effectively.
  • Behaviour Management and implementing stratagies
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of differentiated activities to support student progress.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an SEN role, preferably within a school setting.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Strong understanding of various Special Educational Needs and associated support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting the diverse needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
