Senior Youth Work Facilitator - £28,000 pro rata - fixed term 8-month contract to start in January 2025 (ending 31st August 2025)
A wonderful opportunity to join a charity that empowers and inspires girls and young women in a newly created position as their Senior Youth Work Facilitator. Joining the organisation at an exciting time of expansion they are looking for an additional experienced youth worker on an 8 month full-time contract (with the possibility to extend). Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. This role requires travel to schools and centres (travel paid for) in South London. At other times, the position will be based in their offices in Brockley, SE4.
Joining an innovative and passionate team, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous Youth work experience providing mentoring and support for young girls. Strong facilitation and communication skills are essential with the ability to engage and connect with young girls effectively. Passionate about gender equality, empathy, and patience and a genuine interest to support the growth and wellbeing of others. As a Senior Youth Facilitator, you will play a crucial role in creating safe and engaging environments for young people to learn, grow, and thrive. Reporting into the Programmes Officer, and working across differing programmes and alongside other Youth Work Facilitators, your responsibilities are varied and include: -
Leading or assist in leading various programmes, workshops, or activities designed for the young people within the community
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and quality of sessions delivered by Youth & Mentor Facilitators, providing recommendations for additional training or areas of improvement
Supporting Youth & Mentor Facilitators by providing informal support, offering advice and creating a culture of excellence
Encouraging engagement, participation, and collaboration among youth participants
Offering guidance and support to youth participants, both individually and in groups
Collaborating with staff members to develop programme content and curriculum that aligns with the needs and interests of the youth demographic
Adapting materials and activities to suit different age groups and learning styles
Enforcing and implementing safeguarding across all programmes to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
Establishing positive relationships with the young people, their families, and the wider community
Assessing the impact and effectiveness of the programmes through participant feedback, observation, and evaluation metrics
Collaborating with stakeholders working closely with other youth workers, volunteers, partner organisations, schools, and community leaders to coordinate activities and resources for youth development
Maintaining clear & concise session notes, keeping accurate records of programme attendance, participant demographics, and any incidents or concerns that arise
Staying informed about best practices, trends, and developments in youth work and related fields
Seeking out opportunities for professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge
Raising awareness about issues affecting youth and work towards positive change
May require attendance at training events and meetings in the evening and on weekends
