Job Family

Reporting to the relevant deputy/team manager, to lead and ensure the effective operation of the Practice Support Group (social work unit consisting of multi-disciplinary staff). To supervise cases as part of regular group supervision and provide practice-related support to colleagues in the PSG. To be responsible for ensuring the safety of foster carers, children and young people allocated to the group.

To hold a small, yet complex caseload of assessment and/or support cases. To exemplify expert and best practice in the assessment, support, and supervision of prospective foster carers, including temporarily approved kinship foster carers. To provide training and development for approved foster carers and apply professional and expert rigour to assessment and/or support cases to ensure that those approved are fully prepared for the role of fostering.

To support the relevant deputy/team manager, contributing to the development of innovative and effective fostering services which meet the needs of Looked After Children and Care Leavers. To be responsible for a range of activities to support the fostering service in maintaining high standards and compliance with the relevant legislation, care planning regulations and National Minimum Standards.

The Advanced Practitioner will maintain accurate case related records; deputising for the deputy team manager as and when required.
