About the Role:

  • Position: Behaviour Mentor
  • Location: Hackney, East London
  • Contract: Full-time, term-time only
  • Start Date: September or ASAP
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with students to support their emotional and behavioural development.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning activities.
  • Assist in the creation of tailored behaviour support plans in collaboration with teachers, SENCO, and other school staff.
  • Provide targeted support to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), helping them develop coping strategies and resilience.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide feedback to teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, working with children with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's social and emotional development.
